Lazard Volunteers Clean Up Tokyo and New York

As a global firm with a 175-year history, Lazard is committed to protecting our environment and preserving our planet for generations to come. We support our local communities through both charitable contributions and hands-on volunteer activities. Our global Work for Good (WFG) program provides employees paid time-off to volunteer with a wide variety of local charities located in the communities in which we operate.

During the spring and summer of 2023, Lazard colleagues in Tokyo and New York engaged in a variety of urban beautification and environmental clean-up volunteering opportunities to make their cities more pleasant places in which to live and work.

Lazard Joins Cleanup Competition in Tokyo

Lazard Tokyo co-sponsored a cleanup competition in honor of Earth Day in April and World Environment Day in June. The cleanup was a team competition to pick up various types of garbage within an hour. Tokyo team members and their families managed to collect 33 kilograms (73 pounds) of trash.

Lazard Volunteers Clean up Governors Island

Colleagues from Lazard New York engaged in a two-hour gardening project to help clean up Governors Island in New York Harbor. Volunteers cleared vetch, mugwort, thistle, and other undesirable plants from a 0.4 acre section of Liggett Terrace, weeded over 900 feet of hardscape in Hammock Grove, and removed over 20 cubic yards of weeds.

Lazard Cleans up East Harlem, New York

In April, 20 Lazard volunteers spent an afternoon helping to clean up the garden beds of Adam Clayton Powell Malls, in East Harlem, New York. Twenty-seven plants and flowers were planted and 20 bags of weeds, trash and invasive plants pulled from the gardens for NY Cares.
