In October 2026, Cyrus Kapadia, Lazard’s UK CEO and Co-Head of European Investment Banking, joined BBC Radio 4’s Today Programme to discuss what it will take to support stronger long-term growth in the UK.

“The UK has many of the ingredients for stronger growth,” Cyrus said, citing capital, talent, world-class universities, and recognised R&D capabilities. Realising that potential requires more stability in policy and regulation, incentives for productive capital deployment, and stronger execution on infrastructure, housing, energy and other major projects, he said. He also spoke about the opportunity to put more of the UK’s substantial domestic savings base to work at home. With workplace pensions representing more than £2 trillion in assets, he suggested that greater domestic investment could help support UK businesses, innovation and infrastructure.
