Lazard CEO and Chairman Peter Orszag at the 2025 Columbia University Global Energy Summit

On April 9, Lazard CEO and Chairman Peter Orszag participated in a fireside chat with Daniel Yergin, Vice Chairman of S&P Global, at the 2025 Columbia University Global Energy Summit, “Energy Security and the Transition amid Geopolitical Turbulence.” Peter and Daniel discussed current market uncertainty, its impact on fiscal growth in the United States and on the progress of the global energy transition. 

In February, Peter coauthored, alongside Daniel Yergin and S&P Global’s Atul Arya, "The Troubled Energy Transition" in Foreign Affairs Magazine arguing that despite record growth in wind and solar energy, hydrocarbons like oil and coal also hit all-time highs, indicating an "energy addition" rather than a true transition.
