Mary Ann Deignan, Head of Capital Markets Advisory, was a featured guest on SiriusXM's Wharton Business Daily radio show on June 1.
During her segment with host Dan Loney, Mary Ann discussed the current landscape for shareholder activism, specifically noting the discontent many activist investors are expressing with corporate leaders.
When asked what’s driving the uptick in activist investing, Mary Ann commented: “Markets have created value opportunities like we haven't seen in quite some time across many sectors, as volatility has set in and share prices have come down. If you're an activist investor, one of the first things you look for is a great company trading at a really compelling price. The market turmoil of 2022 and 2023 has absolutely created that backdrop.”
