Gerard Pechal joined Lazard in 2019 and is a Director and Head of Upstream Technical in the Power, Energy & Infrastructure group, based in Lazard's Houston office. Gerard is focused on upstream strategic advisory, engineering and technical diligence for oil and gas companies.

Prior to joining Lazard, Gerard worked at ExxonMobil for 10 years in various roles including unconventional development planning, reservoir engineering and production operations. In 2009 Gerard joined ExxonMobil's Global Subsurface Engineering & Operations Support group in Houston focused on global subsea operations and light well intervention. In 2010 after ExxonMobil acquired XTO Energy for $41bn, Gerard was the first engineer integrated into XTO Energy's Fort Worth office focused on unconventional asset management and operations in the Barnett, Eagle Ford and Duvernay shale plays.
