Raymond J. McGuire
President and Co-Head of Financial Advisory in North America

Raymond J. McGuire is the President and Co-Head of Financial Advisory in North America at Lazard. As a member of Lazard’s senior leadership team, he strengthens key stakeholder relationships, counsels on complex transactions, and drives the firm’s international growth. In November 2025, he joined the Board of Directors of Harvard Management Company, which oversees Harvard University’s endowment and related assets.
Prior to Lazard, Mr. McGuire spent 13 years as Citigroup’s Global Head of Corporate and Investment Banking, leading a $20 billion business and holding the longest tenure in that role in Wall Street history. He later served as Citigroup Vice Chairman and Chairman of its Banking, Capital Markets, and Advisory business. His earlier career included being the Co-Global Head of Mergers & Acquisitions at Morgan Stanley and senior roles at Merrill Lynch and Wasserstein Perella. He began his career in the Mergers & Acquisitions Group at The First Boston Corporation. He has advised on transactions exceeding $750 billion.
Mr. McGuire serves on the board of Vornado Realty Trust and has held prior corporate directorships at Hess Corporation and KKR & Co. He also holds leadership positions on several nonprofit boards, including the Harvard Management Company, the American Museum of Natural History (Treasurer), the Black Trustee Alliance for Art Museums (Co-Chair), the Hotchkiss School (Vice President), the New York Public Library (Chair Executive-Committee), the Regional Plan Association (Chairman), the Trinity School and the Whitney Museum of American Art. As Chairman of the Studio Museum in Harlem, he led a transformative $300 million capital campaign culminating in its historic November 2025 reopening.
Mr. McGuire earned his M.B.A. and J.D. from Harvard Business School and Harvard Law School, and his A.B. from Harvard College.
