Richard Milliken
Managing Director
Richard joined Lazard in 2022 and is part of the firm’s Capital Markets Advisory practice. He has a particular focus on capital allocation, the equity narrative, and the relationship between boards and investors.
Richard brings a deep understanding of evolving investor perspectives, and advises on the different investor groups and how these groups will react to a wide spectrum of circumstances. He works closely with both the sector teams and other specialists.
Richard started his career in finance in 1986 at SG Warburg & Co, joining their investment business Mercury Asset Management (now Blackrock following its purchase of Merrill Lynch Investment Management) becoming a Managing Director in 1997.
In 2004 he co-founded and was an executive partner of NewSmith Asset Management, an institutional equity and hedge fund business. He joined from Marylebone Partners, where he was the managing partner, investing in global equities and debt funds on behalf of family offices; endowments; and charities.
Richard has an Honours degree in Economics and Politics from Durham University and is an associate Member of the CFA Society. He is a member of the Royal Academy Investment Committee, together with a number of other investment committees.
